The known Ajanta and Ellora caves are set close to the town of Aurangabad in geographical region. The cave shrines were all cut out of rock, by hand, and rank amongst a number of the foremost outstanding specimens of ancient Indian field heritage. Ajanta has been selected as a World Heritage website, to be preserved as a creative bequest that may come to inspire and enrich the lives of generations to come back.
The Ellora caves, thirty four in range, are carved into the edges of a volcanic rock hill, thirty kms from Aurangabad. the best specimens of cave – temple design, they house elaborate facades and fine adorned interiors. These structures representing the 3 faiths of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, were carved throughout the 350 AD to 700 AD amount.Both Ajanta and Ellora Caves are listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage Guide .
