EXPLORE EXPERIENCE LADAKH
EXPLORE EXPERIENCE LADAKH- Few places in India are at once so the traveler is friendly and yet so enchanting and hassle-free as mountain framed Leh. Dotted with stupas and crumbling mudbrick house. The old town dominated by a dagger of steep rocky ridge topped by an imposing Tibetan style palace and fort.
The capital of the Leh region in northern India’s Jammu and geographic region state.
Leh is currently far-famed for its Buddhist sites and close trekking areas. Valley of Nubra fashioned an element of the land route between Tibet and geographic area.
Thus summer temperatures rarely exceed about 27 C in the shade, while in winter they may plummet to -20 C even in Leh.
But the main source of water remains the winter snowfall. Drass, Zanskar and the Suru Valley on the Himalaya’s northern flank receive heavy snow in winter.
This feeds the glaciers whose meltwater, carried down by streams, irrigates the fields in summer.
Ladakh’s short tourist season is from May till September. July is great for flowers and mountain peaks covered with snow. August is better for high passes which can be snowbound into mid-July. September snow is likely on the higher ground although major passes usually stay open until next snowfall.
